Elodie Passeport - Rutgers University

I am an associate professor at Rutgers University, in the Department of Environmental Sciences. Previously, I was an associate professor at the University of Toronto, cross-appointed in the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, and Civil and Mineral Engineering. I am interested in joining the board of directors of the Hudson - Delaware Chapter of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. I believe that my research interests fit the HDC-SETAC very well. I have over 15 years of research experience in the characterization of the fate of contaminants in surface water and groundwater in urban, agricultural, and industrial areas. My work involves laboratory and field studies related to environmental chemistry, such as the investigation of sorption, desorption, photolysis, and biodegradation of environmental contaminants. I have made scientific contributions on the sources and fate of microplastics and tire-wear particles in urban stormwater and green infrastructure; the fate of pesticides, chlorinated nitroaromatics and anilines, selenium, radioactive strontium, and trace organic contaminants in constructed wetlands; novel uses of passive samplers; and the development and validation of analytical methods, including those based on Compound Specific Isotope Analysis. I work very closely with industry for my expertise on the assessment of the remediation of contaminated sites using Compound Specific Isotope Analysis (CSIA).
