Abdullah Al-Amin, Ph.D., Philadelphia Water Department
Abdullah Al-Amin is an Environmental Engineer with the Post-Construction Stormwater Inspection Team in the Developmental Services Unit at the Philadelphia Water Department. He recently earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Temple University, where his dissertation focused on the fate and transport of inorganic ions in stormwater management practices. Abdullah holds both BS and MS degrees in Environmental Sciences, and his primary research has centered on the fate and transport of pollutants in large watersheds and subsurface systems. His expertise spans laboratory experiments, field investigations, sensor data analysis, and statistical computations. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and technical reports and presented his work at prestigious conferences, including the Society of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology (SETAC) North America, the Hudson-Delaware regional chapter of SETAC (HDC SETAC), the Villanova University Stormwater Partnership (VUSP), and the American Chemical Society MidAtlantic Regional Meeting (ACS MARM). Throughout his academic career, Abdullah has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, organizing various social and humanitarian activities. He is a founding member of the Temple University College of Engineering Graduate Student Association, a former student representative on the board of directors, and a current board member of HDC SETAC. Additionally, he actively contributes as a young leader in the Water Research Association of the Delaware River Basin.
